Near the country path called strada del Poeta sits
the hamlet which bears the same name dominating the
upper Tiber Valley midway between Citta di Castello and
Umbertide, looking across at the fine medieval village
of Montone. Il Poeta is made up of six houses and the
tiny Chapel of Santa Lucia: Casa Santa Lucia: a cottage
facing the Chapel, Casa Torre, Monte, Loggia and Tettoia,
for houses forming the heart of the hamlet and La
Casetta, another cottage overlooking the Sanctuary of
Madonna di Canoscio. The hamlet is situated in the
middle of one of the finest valleys of the Italian
Renaissance. Besides the beautiful accommodations there
is a swimming pool, tennis court. archery, country
bowling, and croquet are also available. All six houses
are furnished beautifully and are for the most
discriminating traveler. The hamlet is a short distance
from Perugia, Gubbio and Castiglione del Lago. Borgo Il
Poeta was nominated among the top 50 villas in Europe by
Conde Nast Traveler, in November 1998, Vogue included it
in Vogue Living-Umbrian options in 1997 and Brides
dedicated a full article to it in July/August 1996. |
