Visitors to Tuscany-First, thank you for facilitating our renting
in Italy on our last trip in April, May. I told you I would give you some
feedback when I returned but it has taken me awhile to get to you on my "to do"
list. The Rosi Villa in Cita della Peive was fabulous. A great location to do
Umbria and Tuscany! We may try to repeat that in a few years.
Visitors to Tuscany-We are back home again, after a wonderfull 7 weeks touring
all over the place. Alberto 2 was good. The pool was super, much bigger than
expected, and the gardens were great. The bathroom was great, big and new.The
kitchen was adequate, great fridge, but no stove or m/w, just a small gas hob.
Despite the small complaints, we had a fab time, and my parents were over the
moon. The area was nice and in the country, very close to Lucca, where we spent
many days and nights. I got an amazing ring from my husband in Lucca,( 10th
wedding anniversary!) which has since been valued at 4 times what we paid! We
thought it was a great deal, but if we had known how good, we would have bought
more! Got great leather from San Gimigliano, fab place! The only problem with
this area, it was a hell of a drive to anywhere but Lucca, My poor husband! Next
time we would be based closer to Sienna. Thanks for all your help.
Visitors to Umbria-I just wanted to check in and tell you that our group had an
amazing time in italy. Borgo il Poeta far exceeded our wildest hopes, and we
couldn't have been more pleased with the owners and staff there. The Grippo's
hospitality was unfathomable--they welcomed us, took us to coffee, whisked us
off to the countryside to buy some farm fresh cheese (ugh, the warm ricotta,
manna), even loaned us their car when we were in a jam. and the staff, Anna,
Simone and Franco, were the dearest. They attended to our every question,
graciously smiling through our mangled attempts at Italian. We were truly
dazzled by the quality and warmth of the place on every level. Thank you again
for all your help in making our trip possible. I hope to work with you again in
the future.
Visitors to Rome-We returned from Rome last night and had a marvelous time. We
left Florence, stopped for lunch in Greve, drove through Radda and Gaiole and
worked our way to Montalcino, getting very lost around Siena (the more lost we
got, the darker it got). We loved Montalcino and discovered the reason we could
not get 4 nights at Dei Capitani. There was a big festival (a mini Pallio),
which (you might remember) wouldn't permit a 4 night stay, but the good news was
that we stayed for the early part of the festival, witnessing some dancing,
heraldry and chanting. Dei Capitani was simple, but perfect and room 306 had the
most exquisite view of the valley, just as you had said. Massimo and the rest of
the staff were helpful and we were very sorry we couldn't stay longer.
Visitors to Umbria-We returned home late Sunday night after a wonderful holiday
in Italy, where we rented La Francescana. I thought you might appreciate some
feedback about the rental. First of all, the house was large and very nice. The
kitchen was well equipped with a gas stove top, electric oven, and a dishwasher,
and a side by side refrigerator. The TV had a satellite hook-up which provided
500 stations ( 20 Italian, 2 English , about 3 or 4 French and all the rest were
German!) The three bathrooms upstairs were beautifully tiled and fairly
spacious. The pool was a good size and we made great use of it at all hours of
the day. The grounds were large and meticulously well- kept - the owner and a
gardener came each morning. A tall hedge grew all around and provided privacy
from the road and the neighboring houses.
The family that owns La Francescana are very nice people. Liliane did cook for
us one night and she is a fantastic cook. The dinner was a celebratory one for
us to celebrate both my husbands and my grandsons birthday. They quite
thoughtfully and generously brought small gifts for each. That was very nice.
Communication can be a problem as only the two daughters speak any English. We
generally managed the day to day contacts, but when a radiator pipe burst in one
of the bathrooms one evening, I had to call Sophia , who attends school in
another town, to explain the problem so she could tell her parents. One really
has to have a car in order to get around for sight-seeing and shopping. The bus
stop mentioned is for a regionale bus which departs from Perugia about every
four hours. In all the time we were there we never saw a bus returning down the
road. There is a large shopping mall in Colastrada which is only several K?s
away and contains a McDonalds which delighted my grandson. The German girls
found designer sunglasses about $35 cheaper and my daughter found her perfume
for $50 less than she paid at Nordstums. We all had a wonderful time. Thanks for
your help in arranging it for us.
